On Monday, Olivia started her first day as a toddler. I was not really nervous, I just hoped she would be ok. And, quickly, Tooder's proved she was more than ok. We walked into class and two girl tods went running by, they were chasing each other. Olivia thrust out her arm, pointed at them, tossed her head back, and chuckled "ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!"
I could not get her coat off fast enough and she was off. I begged and pleaded for a hug and kiss goodbye, she glared at me, and from the bubble I extracted, "No Mommy, can't you see I am busy banging these cups on the table? See yah!"
I stole a kiss anyway and ventured out to the hallway as directed by her teacher to find her "locker." Yes, now she is a big girl and she has her first locker. I about died from cute-attack when I saw the photo on the locker door. (Picture to come as soon as I recharge the batteries in my camera). All the kids have a photo on their locker of them sitting in their locker. They happened to take Toodie's pic on Valentine's Day in her pink tutu. So, there she is, all smiley-faced ear-to-ear in her pink tutu sitting in her big kid locker. Awe...
So, today, Wednesday...I brought Tooder's to school about quarter to nine. Breakfast is served between 8-9. I felt so bad when we arrived because all the kids had finished breakfast and they were enjoying storytime in the corner. I could see the struggle in Olivia's eyes, "Do I eat breakfast by myself or do I go sit with all my fun friends and learn about farm animals?"
Mommy was thinking and positioned her at the table so she could still see the book-reading and wafted the blueberry muffin in front of her nose tempting her to eat. It worked, but she looked so lonely and like she was being punished. I guess we will have to leave a bit earlier in the AM so Mommy doesn't feel so guilty.
