I am excited to say that we are very much looking forward to Olivia's 1st birthday party - mostly because there will be cake. TWO times now Toodie has taken the cake - LITERALLY.
#1: On MomWalk 2008 at our top secret mommy location, we brought a rhubarb cake to celebrate Auntie Alba's birthday and as soon as the pan was set on the table, Olivia lurched head first into the stalky, brown sugary goodness. Both hands were wrist deep into the rhubarb. Mmmm...so good.
#2: Upon discovering that there was a restaurant named Cupcake, it was my mission and duty to check it out. A selection of a half dozen or so cup shaped cakes later, I was on my way to daycare to share the goodies with Olivia's teachers - they deserve some sweetness, too! I pulled my "CocoLoco" out of the box. It was a moist, vanilla cake filled with lemon curd, topped with a gooey marshmallow frosting and doused in coconut. So, with Olivia in one arm and CocoLoco in the other, I was regaling my journey with the girls to Cupcake and with one swoop half my marshmallow topping was gone and Olivia's fist was in her mouth. She then proceeded to comb my hair with the ooey gooey, light n' fluffy goodness. Thank you punkin...Momma's so pretty now.
It turns out, that in addition to the love of all things cuppy and cakey, we both almost love/hate to enjoy things of the sour variety. One of my loves/addictions, is for dried cherries. I love the big, plump ones that when you bite them they are a bit sour and leave my palette begging for more. Olivia has the same craving with lemons. We discovered this love/hate with lemons as a joke because Mom wanted to see a cute pucker face. Well, little did we know that following the adorable ewww, yucky, sour, pucker face that Olivia would just want more and more and more. We have created a monster. Suck on the lemon, pucker, more! Suck on the lemon, eww pucker, but more! I wonder if she will share the same fondness when she grows older for brownie batter?
